June – December 2018

I have been given the incredible opportunity to go back to Jinja, Uganda to serve for 6 months as a Preschool Intern with HEAL Ministries at The James Place. The mission of HEAL Ministries is to empower & resource vulnerable, abandoned women & children in Christ-centered holistic programs that teach sustainability & family preservation. To learn more about this incredible organization, you can go check out http://www.healministries.org/ . During my time in Uganda last summer, the Lord broke my heart for the children at Kids’ Club every Saturday (who all walk miles by foot from the slums in the area), and I prayed fervently that God would provide a way for them to be able to go to school and receive adequate meals and daily care (clothing, baths, etc.). God not only answered this prayer, but exceeded it when he provided the funds for HEAL Ministries to expand their current preschool to reach more of these children and prompted the founder of HEAL Ministries to ask me to come back and help train and teach alongside the local teachers at the expanded school!

I am so incredibly grateful for all of your love, prayers, and financial support as I embark on this journey ahead! In additional to generous support, I worked a part-time job at a local pizza place in Greenville, SC (in addition to full-time teaching) this past year to raise as much of the money on my own as I could.  I am in awe at God’s faithfulness in providing the means for me to be able to go and serve Him in Jinja, Uganda and I hope you can learn along with me as I try to update this blog throughout my six months here!

Summer 2017 –

I am so incredibly grateful for all of the prayers and financial support as I embark on this journey. God has been so faithful in providing the means for me to be able to go and all the glory goes to Him! I am keeping this blog as a way to share with loved ones all that God is teaching me during my time in Uganda!

This June, I have been given the incredible opportunity to serve as a Pre-School and Childcare Intern with HEAL Ministries at The James Place in Jinja, Uganda. The mission of HEAL Ministries is to empower & resource vulnerable, abandoned women & children in Christ centered holistic programs that teach sustainability & family preservation. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher and to work with young children in some capacity. As Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Since coming to know the Lord, I have developed a heart for missions as well and have prayed for years that God would make it clear if and when I was supposed to pursue international missions. Throughout my first year of teaching here in the United States, I have been able to serve as a Pre-School Teacher at a school where we serve under-resourced and vulnerable children. I have absolutely fallen in love with the innocence and joy of my little ones and have been able to see how vitally important it is to reach and love them while they are young. Out of nowhere, a close friend of mine here in Greenville, South Carolina reached out to me and connected me to an awesome ministry located in Jinja, Uganda called HEAL Ministries, and God has just continued to open doors and made it very clear that I am supposed to serve there this summer!

As I serve in Uganda this June, I will do my best to update this Blog as often as I can with all that God is teaching me!

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after widows and orphans in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” – James 1:27

“He defends the cause of the fatherless and widow and loves the foreigner giving them food and clothing.” – Deuteronomy 10:18
